[Elecraft] K2 repair

Scott,

I, too, have sent a rig to Gary. I was a test builder for the K2 and after
a period of time, ran into issues with my original kit. We had a couple of
mods over the years :-). He took care of everything. I also called and
spoke to him re some upgrades and he helped through those. I was a test
builder and when issues arose with the 30/80 add-on, not only Gary, but
others who were builders and enthusiasts came to my aid.

My original K-2, Who knows, I might wind up sending it to Gary again. I have
lost track of which mods I have done, and what issues I have missed. One
person who has the experience and knows exactly what to look for: Gary.

I am not quite finished with a two year project which takes about 8 hours to
add a K@/100 amp. Oh, well. Elecraft support including everyone on the
reflector who has experience building, are a huge help. I have always been
very relaxed with my building issues knowing there is expertise available,
unlike 40+ years ago when sometimes you were out on a limb on your own!
Some of the stuff I tried to build has found other uses/places. :-)

(I am being really lazy with the K3, having it factory built, due to time,
etc. )

72,

Bill

That's a great post, Scott!

..............

In the decade I've owned Elecraft gear, I and almost countless others have
experienced almost absurdly-good and eager help with any question or
problem. It's an open question about which is better: Elecraft equipment or
Elecraft support. Any opinions about that will start a huge, never-ending
thread ;-)

Indeed, it was my experience with the company that encouraged me to get
involved with helping Wayne with the kit assembly manuals.

It underscores the need to ask the source when one wants a clear answer, and
sometimes it's worth asking twice if the answer wasn't clear the first time.
