> What harm would be done by allowing DTF in DATA A?
DTF is a special function for RTTY, and the K3 needs to know that thi
sis a RTTY application to set it up, enable the decoder, etc. The K3
needs to know the tone pair in use.
DATA A is a general purpose mode that is unaware of the type or nature
of the data being sent.
For special cases, there is always the possibility of making specialized
features available in the K3 to support the spcieal case, very popular
modes. This is how PSK D and FSK (A and D) came into being as special
cases of the DATA mode.
In general, DATA A assumes an external modem and (or computer+soundcard)
and simply does its best to pass the data without distortion or
interpretation.
So, no harm, but potential confusion.
