The days of the single core processor are over.
Developers are writing applications which take advantage of the second
core and fast memory buss. As has always been the case, it's the PC
gamers and developers who drive the performance side. As has always been
the case, the single best "upgrade" you can do for a PC, or Mac for that
matter, is to fill the memory slots, up to the OS limit.

Julian is correct about Windows having an advantage in Ham Radio
software. You can thank Visual Basic and MS Access for that. In my
experience if there is an Linux app and a comparable Windows app, the
Linux app seems to run better, maybe without all the gee-whiz eye candy,
but better. Linux for Ham Radio is still missing that one killer app
like HRD/DM780 on the windows side. FLDigi is VERY good, better than
MixW on the windows side, but it doesn't have the rig control and log
integration that HRD does.

| They come with Connectors: 3 USB 2.0 ports, MMC/SD (HC) card reader,

| In answer to Doug KR2Q appeal for more info on the same subject, he was

|
| Then, again I like what Julian says about using old computers.
