Early on it was suggested in a couple of posts by Wayne that a keyboard
might be connected to the socket underneath the K3 that is used for
engineering purposes. This idea has subsequently been downplayed by Eric, so
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it. I guess it would have to be some
kind of dedicated unit, therefore it might as well be something that plugged
in the back and spoke K3 command language.

I have just ordered an Asus Eee which is a cheap mini-laptop that runs a
version of Linux. Though I didn't buy it for radio purposes, this would make
a very nice solution for digital operations - not exactly "computer free"
but then even your external keyboard would have a computer in it. I have
already seen that someone has got digipup
(http://www.w1hkj.com/flpuppy.html) running on the Eee.
