John,
Look at the wires as 'zero ohm' resistors - which is what they really are.
Yes, install one between J1 pin 1 and J2 pin 1 - and another between J1
pin 2 and J2 pin 2.
If you install J1 and J2 later (to add either the KAF2 or KDSP2), you
will remove these 'zero ohm resistors' - so install them in a manner
that would be easiest to remove later.
If you have the KDSP2 or KAF2 kit in hand right now, dig into the kit
for the J1 and J2 headers and install them now (do not solder in the
'zero ohm resistors') - then bend 2 component leads to connect J1 pin 1
to J2 pin 1 and also J1 pin 2 to J2 pin 2 - stick the jumper wires into
the headers. Remove the jumpers when you are ready to install the KAF2
or KDSP2.
