Mike,

I have not done it, but I too can read schematics - I checked th eKIO2 
interface connections and the KPA100 AUX I/O pinout to resolve any 
conflicts.

In this particular case, you should believe the schematic - the XV 
series owners manual text is incorrect (Ron, if you are listening, take 
note).

The 12CTRL signal is needed on pin 8 of the XV144 DE-9 (but it need not 
be 12 volts, the ACC pin 7 output will drive this signal just fine.

The 8R input to the XV144 is on pin 9 - this does not have to be 8 volts 
for the XV144 operation, it only must be a low level during transmit, so 
the ACC Pin 10 - keyout signal will work FB.

Yes, the ground (common return) lines connect to XV144 DE-9 pin 1, and 
either K3 ACC pin 5 or 12 may be used at the other end.

However, in reading the circuit description on page 23 of the manual there are discrepancies. For example, in paragraph 3 on page 23 it says "+12 volts is supplied via pin 9 of the DB-9 connector to Q5." Not so according to the schematic - it is pin 8. Also, in the 7th paragraph on page 23 it says "when the 8R signal at pin 6 of the DB-9 interface goes to a logic low" it switches between receive and transmit mode. Not so according to the schematic - it is pin 9. So, which do I believe, the schematic or the text?
