The reason that some older amps have a lower voltage
for CW is because when the amp was built the limit for
power was 1,000 watts DC INPUT instead of the current
level. For an amp to get to 1,000 watts DC on SSB and
not exceed it for CW either low drive or lower voltage
was needed. Good power output meters that hams could
afford are products of the last 20 years or so.
