Pactor 1 was licensed to AEA for example. But they did not get it working
like the enventors did - problems with memory ARQ, the throughput was
less than in the original.
I think there are soundcard programs around that do Pactor 1. For my taste
it is less than we want to have in performance.
I built the TRX-PTC into my K2 (still low power version) and I am very
satisfied with it. I was testing it /mm in Panama, Venezuela and Columbia,
and in Crete and it worked very well. (using Airmail & Winlink 2000 and
connecting my mailbox at home in OE9).

you see:
K2IO-board - bluetooth board - relais board (switch to Ptc-2 or ext. modem)
TRX-PTC board - EA3BLQ digital board
speaker
For the use in our emergency service we rely on SCS modems, the price
may be high but the performance and reliability makes it worth.
