[Elecraft] icom 7700...

Hi Brett ..
Icom doesn't have the agility to respond to requests or problems from their
customers that Elecraft has.
Icom doesn't have a user group like this one. Look at how long it took Icom
to respond to the need for a "narrow roofing filter" in the 7800; a $13,000
radio. The AFTER-THOUGHT UPGRADE cost the owners $500 and the loss of their
7800 for several weeks, at minimum.
Look at all the constant nagging that Wayne and Eric continue to respond to
during the beta testing of the K3. Do you think the Icom folks would take
time reply to customers and non-customers) while trying to take a product to
market?
Got an idea for a feature you would like to see in future Icom rig. Send the
designer an email (if you can find him) and let me read the response.
Let them copy it. When you buy an Elecraft, you get a lot more than a piece
of hardware. What is that worth? Have you seen the Chinese rip-off Motorola
RF transistors on the market? Or the rip-off Motorola and Icom VHF-UHF gear?
I could go on; I think you get the idea.

Subject: [Elecraft] icom 7700...
Got my AES catalog today and was looking at the new icom 7700.
No price yet, but I see its got relay switched bandpass filters,
3 relay switched roofing filters, 48 volt 200 watt output stage,
2 dsp units, a bandscope built in, and a built in power supply.
Are they taking some of the Elecraft ideas?
What is to stop them from coping the basic K3 design?
No price yet....
