[Elecraft] K3 Mic MH2 on K2

Bernie,

It may be even easier than that - if you do not use the MC-60 mic on a
Kenwood transceiver, then you can re-wire the 8 pin mic plug - just move
the wire currently connected to pin 5 to pin 6. If there was something
already connected to pin 6, you will want to remove it (and you will
lose the function of whatever it accomplished).

Since the Kenwood mic does not want a resistor between 5 volts and pin 1
(AF), you must install that resistor in the MH2 mic plug rather than
across the mic jack inside the K2. That action will dedicate the MH2
mic to YOUR K2, but that may be OK unless you try to sell the mic.

With the advent of the K3, we should all be thinking about wiring
whatever mic we intend to use for Elecraft gear to the Elecraft pinout -
for K2s, just wire straight across the mic header, and if you are using
a non-Elecraft mic, just wire the mic plug to match the Elecraft pinout.
In the long run, I believe re-wiring the mic plug is the most sane
solution - plus it will also work with the K3.
