Good point, David. However, you may be surprised that probably won't
take a week. Everything that I have ordered from Aptos has arrived here
in RI on the second day after they shipped it USPS Priority Mail. Hope
the USPS serves you as well!

Just checked with Elecraft, as I was seeing a (16lb) shipment headed
this way on a very slow route (been sitting in California for the last
24hrs).  I had ordered the K2 last Friday, and requested 3 day shipment
so that I could start on the base unit this week.  I went ahead and
ordered the special solder (based on recommendations from here).  The
solder was $20, and I then paid $17 in shipping to get it here this week
to start the kit.
