One small correction on the AGC pot setting ---
If the volume increases with NO ANTENNA connected and you turn the AGC off,
then the AGC Threshold is set too high.

If there are signals being received, you are likely to have some AGC action
unless all signals in the passband are extremely weak, so when an antenna is
connected you should always hear some difference between AGC on and AGC off
even if all you are hearing is band noise.
