For regular SSB work, the standard 2.7 kHz filter should be fine. The 
jury is still out on whether the 8-pole 2.8 is worth the extra money.

For CW, you should have the 500 or 400 (same caveat about the more 
expensive 8-pole version).

I have found the 1 kHz filter very useful for CW, because I like to 
listen with a wider bandwidth.

Probably only serious digital guys need the 250. Remember that you can 
narrow the bandwidth with the DSP, and the filters are only used to 
protect the DSP from signals greater than about S9+30.

This is all just MY OPINION and others may disagree!
