John,
Even though you may have meant a 'tongue in cheek' response, let me
provide a serious answer. I believe one can skip the updating if the
new items are not of benefit to a particular operator.
I have not kept count, but it seems to me that there has been about 1
update per week, and the updates do not take a considerable amount of
time to load - so by my guess you could lose about 15 minutes of
*potential* operating time per week if every update is loaded. I have
faith that the rate of updates will settle down as time goes on.
In its infancy, the K2 had many updates too, it seemed that there was a
never-ending queue of mods and firmware changes as the customer base
grew and those customers though of other neat things that could be done
to make the K2 better. These were real hardware changes - even updating
the firmware required physically changing the firmware IC - fortunately,
the K3 can be updated without even opening the covers.
