You cannot go wrong with Astron. Being limited in $$, I bought a
Samlex 1223. I have used the Samlex 1223 with my K2/100 for years
without any problems. My Samlex 1223 was involved in a bad house fire.
I had to open it and clean out all the smoke deposits and water.
After being dried out, it has run FB for three years after the fire.
My K2 was the only HF rig recoverable after the fire. I cleaned all
the boards with alcohol and distilled water, replaced the melted
buttons and knobs, and replaced the front panel. It has also run FB
for three years following the fire. The reason it survived was its kit
construction and operator repairable design. The only other surviving
radio was a Yaesu VX-5 HT that was in a leather case and found on the
floor after the fire. Both radios emitted a faint smoke odor upon
their operation for two years after the fire.
Using a robust power supply is important. Bad designs can itroduce QRM
and cause strange behavior due to the slumping of their output under
load. It is important to use heavy power cords to your rig for the
same reason.

I'm sorry if this subject has been discussed (I'm sure it has) but
does anyone have advice re. a light wt. switching power supply for the
K2/100?
