I posted this on Friday, but only got one response. I still could use some
advice. By the way, the KPA-100 is still sitting beside the K2 (connected
by the three cables running "over the wall"). Thank you.

Subject: Problem with the KPA-100

I have a K2 (#4635) that works fine. I love the rig. I have just finished
building the KPA-100 to go into it, and I am in the test an alignment phase.
Most of the testing seems fine, but the amp seems to have some type of
intermittent problem. Much of the time the rig sits in receive with no
problems, but at times the receiver mutes and the LED bargraph shows a
single segment at the top. When this happens, I can usually bring it back
to normal operation by touching something on the amp PCB (often about
anything on the board, but pot R26 seems to be one of the better locations).
The rig also sometimes changes from high power to low power (as evidenced by
the range of power adjustment). It may recover from that change by itself,
but cycling power usually brings it back to high power. When it is working
correctly, touching the components on the amp PCB often has no effect - it
keeps working OK.

At first I suspected a bad solder joint or something like that, but I am not
sure of that diagnosis. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thank
you.
