Raj,

It could be a timing problem created by the way your operating system
handles the PCI card ports as opposed to its handling of the native com
port.  If you are using WinXP, something like that is entirely possible.

Nothing in your KIO2 is broken.  The K2 operates with no handshaking, so
timing delays and latency caused by the operating system are the most likely
sources of the problems.
