Good Evening Folks,
Weather here is quite nice today. The sky is blue and there is a large
orange ball up there too. Not quite sure what to make of the ball but it
is warm. I think I could get used to it. However, while working on the
roof trying to find a leak which has been evading every attempt at being
repaired I heard something. At first I thought it was wind in the fir
trees. But no wind. Hmmm... odd, what is it? I was busy though,
sweeping and searching so I did not think about it.
I got on to the ground and figured since I was dressed for the weather
I would do a little antenna work. I found the break in my support line so
pulled it out of the tree and coiled it. The sound was louder over
there. Since the bushes and brush were not too wet due to a few hour
respite from the deluge I went walk about. Aiming at the noise and
avoiding the slash in the nearby clearcut I went down hill. Sounds like
water. Lots of it. Kept walking. Avoiding the ankle breakers made life
interesting and a few wrens watched as I approached. They gave me a good
talking to as I moved on by them. Feeling fearless now that they had
scared me off their tune changed to a less challenging one.
I was in amoungst some very tall fir and some stately cedar trees now.
The rushing water was very loud but I had still not sighted it. There, in
between those two trees, I saw my first glimpse of a tiny waterfall. A
temporary stream has taken up residence a few hundred yards away from our
house. Pat would want to put a hydropower gathering device there if she
could but we'd have to finagle with one of the logging firms for a
permit. She would have tried though. I was only Sancho Panza as she
tilted at the towers of justice in Washington County. She won every once
in a while too! Good for her. I miss her very much.
Well enough about new streams, glowing balls in the sky, and Oregon
weather. On to real news befitting the Elecraft Reflector. We are going
to follow the same skeds as last week. They worked wonderfully. We came
very close to setting an all time check in record. Maybe tomorrow with
sunspot central sprouting a few more dots we can do better. If you can
hear any of us please check in. If you can hear someone we obviously
cannot please relay their information along. One can never tell when they
will be called upon to become acting NCS. We may just brevet you on the
spot! It is not too tough. If I can do it so can you :)
