Thanks for the heads up, guys (also to W0EB). My HLA-150 arrived
today and after testing to see if all was OK I decided to see if and
where it might be causing QRM to my K2. I searched all ham bands
from 160 to 10 (including 60m). The only QRM I noticed were
four minor sine wave birdies:
14.225.15 USB S2-3
21.337.30 USB S2-3
24.893.60 USB S3
28.449.88 USB S2
None of the controls on the amp effected the birdies. If you want
to get rid of them, simply switch off the power during recieve. I
tried that and it worked FB. When I went to TX, just flip the power
switch on. The firmware loads and the amp is ready so quick you
could almost call it QSK.
Of course that assumes you are operating very close to the birdies and
the K2's Xfilters can't kill it or you don't have DSP. Maybe it's because
they are such clean sine waves but the KDSP2 took 'em all out easily.
One last thing - the amp can automatically read your freq when you
transmit and then select the proper lowpass filters. What I was
suprised to see was how fast it does this and that it does it on all
modes (incl. SSB). Nice! A quick puff of air into your mic and the amp
is ready to go. Anyways, enough of this on the reflector - getting OT
a bit here. :-)
If any of you have more questions on this amp, feel free to email me
