Larry,

You have just explained the very reason that I have sold all of my Japanese
radios.  Service is expensive and slow.  I now have all American made, and
for the most part built myself from kits equipment.  I would highly
recommend the TenTec line of gear.  The Jupiter or a used OMNI VI+ would
work nicely.   I also like the Orion and am ordering one at the end of
January.  But that radio is pricey and I am at that dangerous stage in
life.  I'm getting old and I'm trying to spend it all before I go :-).....

The folks at Ten Tec have always been easy and efficient to deal with.  I
love their radios as much as I love my K2.

I have no financial interest in Ten Tec...
I'm sure others will have different opinions, and they wil be equally valid
to mine
