1.  Bill 'LR recently wrote, in part:

"I think I could prefer a menu item to select the VOX
delay, and just have the mode-hold toggle the VOX on
and off."

Bill is right.  While handing out all 12 of my Qs for
the rare NC section ;-) during the 'phone SS, I found
myself wishing for exactly this functionality.

Wish I could flash my PIC to do this.

2.  I recently built an adapter box to allow the use
of my aviation headset on my K2.  The schematic in the
Dec. 2003 QST shows how, but has a major error in that
it shows the aviation mic jack as having the audio on
the jack tip as opposed to the ring connector.  The
jack tip is actually for a PTT line for those headsets
that have such an extension, and the ring is the mic.

After I saw this error and fixed it, the adaptobox
works great.  It's much better than any ham-type
headset I've ever used.  I also now can use the K2
VOX, the performance of which now rivals any of the
best JA rigs' VOX in my experience.

In fact, I am so pleased with the SSB function on my
K2 now that I am considering doing some of the
recently discussed TX filter mods.  I previously
viewed the SSB function on the rig as a
nice-to-have-but-who-cares feature, perhaps due to my
natural preference for running a Portland ME built
Vibroplex Iambic Standard as the wetware I/O.  With
this new level of K2 SSB operating quality now at my
disposal, I might actually start working more 'phone!
