A very good circuit simulation program is Top Spice which you can get at:
http://www.penzar.com/

The free demo version (no time limit) is quite useful.  I use it all the
time.
The program is user friendly and the online help that comes with it is good.
There are a lot of circuit models with it and
you can get more from various semiconductor manufacturers.

I am looking for software (preferably Linux, open source) to model
electronic circuitry.  My primary interest is educational.  I want to use
the software to design and investigate circuits to better understand how
they work.  I may do a little design, as well.  Does anyone have
