Jerry,
To properly tune WWV to 'zero beat', do the following:
Set the K2 to LSB and adjust the frequecy until the tones transmitted by WWV
occur at 500 or 600 Hz (they alternate each minute). I use Spectrogram with
markers set to 500 and 600 Hz to use as an aid. You can get close by tuning
until the voice announcements sound about right, but I can't seem to get any
closer than about 40 Hz that way - that is why I use Spectrogram. The 1000
Hz tone is transmitted for only one second at the minute interval, the 500
or 600 Hz tones are transmitted for about 45 seconds (except for some silent
minutes).
