Well, the Heil Hospital page is for returning (at $12 or more) for them to
repair. I couldn't find any parts on the site - It says to call them if it's
not listed. Of course, they don't answer (actually, it's been busy for quite
some time).
The RatShack 270-090 sure looks identical. I'll just run that.
Thanks for the voltages. Now I know the old element was toast.

Hi Dan,
You might have a bad mic or mic connector or cable problem.
The electret element in the MH2 draws very little current, so it should not
load the 5V on the AF wire but slightly. I see about 1.7K to 1.5K to ground
between mic pins 1 and 7 on two different MH2 mics I have here.
On my KSB2, P1-5 has 5.0VDC without the MH2 connected, and 4.0VDC with it
plugged in.
Heil handles QC problems with their mics directly. If you need a replacement
MH2, go to his website and fill out the Heil Hospital form and he'll take
care of it asap.

Can't believe I've stumpped the list<g>. Actually, I just got impatient.
Does it look to you as if I need a new element? I'm not familiar with
condenser elements but mine appears to be a dead short.

Mine doesn't.
I NEVER use SSB, but I'm sure I tested the MH2 when I built my KPSK2 ssb
adapter.
Anyhow, at pin5 of the KSB2, no mic, I have 5v (10K pull up). With the mic
plugged in, it's 0v. Is that right?
Pulled the mic apart. No shorts, all lines ring out. The element looks to my
DMM to be a dead short. Is that right?
Millampmeter inline with a 11K pull-up and a 9v battery shows .7 ma. Is that
right?
Oh, yes. Whistling into it makes no wiggles on the o'scope.
