I have K2 number 4352. Finished it over the summer. Used with mediocre
antennas to test out how it worked. All FB. Just moved my 2 element 40
meter beam up to 70 feet. Conditions on the band have been very good, and
alas I get a signal every 10 KHz from 7000. KHz on up to 7060. KHz. Thought
it was local problem. So I checked my Ten Tec 555, same thing. I heard the
signals on exactly the same frequencies. Switched to the Pro II and no
harmonic signal over load every 10 KHz. I know the AM SWL band could do
this, or a very strong signal on the 40 meter band itself. I am copying
some signals over the pass few days at 40 and 60 db over s9. Switched the
K2 to the 80 meter dipole and the signals (signal) almost vanishes, and the
rest of the band looses about 5 S units. The K2 benefits from switching the
pre amp off, but still see the harmonic on those same frequencies. I'll
keep checking each day. Maybe the SWL station will move, or end it's
transmission. My questions are: Is this normal for the K2 on 40 meters
under these conditions? Is there something I should re-check or maybe
re-tune the band pass filters? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
