[Elecraft] Elecraft Net Report for May 31st 2004

The Elecraft CW Net/40 was run on 7044 kHz at 0200z until 0236z this
evening. The QRN was a bit high but we did manage to get a few folks
checked in. Mr. Tom gave me a 339 however and then disappeared. I do
believe he lowered his antenna again because of all those tornados it
attracts. Good thing he doesn't live in Liberal, KS home of Dorothy and
her little dog :) According to Space Weather.com we happen to be in a
stream of solar particles which when added to the thunderstorms of the
midwest made hearing a bit difficult. The QSB was not as bad as on 30
meters but the noise level was much higher. If there is any way we could
move to 30 meters I think it may work pretty well this time of day.
Please write me with a yea or nay on 30 meters. My G5RV tuned to the band
so I think I can run it. Please try and see if we can use another band.
If enough of you have antennas capable of running there I'll try to get
active on it.

On to the list:

WA7SPY - Glenn - CA - K2 - 323 Good thing you were off the edge of my
antenna!
N0SS - Tom - MO - K2 - 008 449 on 40 meters
W0NTA - Dick - CO - K2 - 3900 Another 449
W0CZ - Ken - ND - K2 - 1031 Nice signal from North Dakota. Needs to
warm up though.
K6ATT - Jeff - CA - K1 - 1805 Welcome to ECN/40

Thank you very much for your check in. If I missed you I am sorry. There
were some signals at the ESP level but I'm not Tom. My ESP is not nearly
as good nor as practiced as his. Hopefully you are not too discouraged
and will try again next week for our first anniversary fais-do-do. I also
am thinking good thoughts about the propagation. If we have to sacrifice
a newt or two for better propagation please bail me out of the local
hoosegow. Newt abuse is frowned on in Oregon :)

73 to all,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 6th Class).
