The volume level is subjective unless your AGC is properly set. Check the
audio level with the AGC disabled.

Subject: [Elecraft] New K2 - high currant drain on RX
Hi All, I'm still trying to troubleshoot my high currant drain on RX (0.5A),
as well as
my 8VR line remaining at 0.6V during TX ..
Going through the troubleshooting I see that a problem in the AF section
could
lead to low audio outpuit and high currant drain..
My question is, what sort of audio output should I expect from headphone
socket
and speaker. I need to have the volume control at about 3 O'clock
comfortable
listening on the speaker, and at about 1-2 O'clock for mt headphones (Sony
Walkman Type). Is this normal or should I expect more output volume.
I also notice that one of the trouble shooting steps for the AGC is to
listen to
second harmonic from X-tal X1 (Control Board) on 10.136Mhz. Whilst mt
S-meter
seems to be working I can't hear this harmonic.. Is it worth me putting the
22K
resistor on U1 as suggested.
I was able to try the K2 in the contest at weekend and whilst the TX side
seems
fine, I still suspect that the RX is a little deaf.
Regards
David, VK2NU
