[Elecraft] Rhombic's etc.

Yes - and I may try that - but I am suspicious first of the PW1 as the SWR
is not that bad (I can't recall - but I think in the range the PW1 should
handle - something like 3:1) - I have a second PW-1 that I am going to take
up there and try this weekend. The one there now was purchased as a
"re-pack" at a discount from Icom (I am an Icom (marine) dealer) - and that
could have been the problem that Icom was not able to find... but replaced
it for the customer and it ended up in re-pack. I also have 2 4KLs there -
and I think the tuner on those may have a bit broader range. I am not really
worried about it though as my desired use is primarily 10 - 20 meters - to
have 2 V-beams permanently pointed at the two major ham population areas -
Europe and Japan ( and Australia and South America/Caribbean off the back)
so that if I have the rotatable beams pointed elsewhere I can change to one
of those to catch a station faster then I can rotate - in addition to just
adding flexibility. The tribanders will have separate feedlines for each
band and will rotate together or separate, and can be selected individually
or combined on each band. On 40 - the wire really isn't high enough to be
really effective anyway. I will have 2 elements at 110' for 40 that can be
combined with crossed inverted Vees at 55' on the tower below it - that was
a killer combo I had for Sweepstakes once - point the beam at the east coast
and just blanket the country with RF - it was amazing how well it worked.
But I have always liked wire antennas - I am still working out what to do
for 160 TX (80 will be a 4-square vertical array) and I have a lot of room
for a beverage.

Dan,
Changing, (adding) some feedline may move the impedance around to where the
tuner will be OK with loading the Vee beam.
Not unusual to find a band that is critical. This might help the amplifier
situation as well.
