[Elecraft] mobile

I used to run my K2 in the car (until the wife complained about it taking up
the passenger seat in my Aurora), I now have a remote mounted FT857. No
comparison the K2 ran circles around the Yaesu. I've got 50 confirmed
countries mobile with the K2 from Wisconsin...not a bad feat for being in
the middle of the US>

I drove from Chicago to Dayton two years ago with a prerelease 100 amp on
the top of my k2... I think I used a manually controlled Yaesu atas 40-6
mtr screwdriver.... as usual the noise blanker in the K2 was FANTASTIC...
in my vw.. trucks & motorcycles provided the most noise , and the k2 was up
to it.

The top got warm, since NY9H & NC9O were talking alot !!!!

I wish eric & wayne would do a little bridgie thingie to control that Yaesu
screwdriver. 8volts dc on the antenna feed makes it go down, while 12vdc
makes it go up.... add a little swr bridge, some memory ...

anyway .... I found it to work well in the car....

before the 100 watt option , i had used it at 15 watts with a hamstick !!!
