In the town where I grew up (in the 50's) I was a little over a mile from 5
kW on 1470 kHz and 1.5 miles from 5 kW on 930 kHz. There was a very strong
spur on 3870 kHz, which was the second harmonic of the 1470 and the
fundamental of 930. Who knows where that beat occurred -- it could have been
in multiple places. But it never went away.

One of my ham friends, W8NJL, was chief of the 1470 station, and I
subsequently worked for the 930 station.
