John:

I found that I had this problem when the K2 frequency was not set properly
(out of sync). That is, that the alignment needed tweaking. Take a look at
website www.qsl.net/w3fpr article on "Setting the K2 dial calibration" "main
Procedure".

Don't forget to follow ALL of the steps. Adjusting c22 only adjusts the
frequency of the oscillator. The frequency is only used for input data to
change the ADC data stored in the microprocessor memory or when cal fill is
done. Cal PLL linearizes the PLL AND also stores new ADC data in the
microprocessor memory. If adjustments to C22 or to the filter (XFIL)
settings are made without doing all steps things get out of sync. Even if
you don't change the XFIL settings you need to make the processor store new
data if you change C22. Do this as explained in step three. (If you don't
they will be out of sync) and you need to do it foe ALL filters - CW, CWR,
SSB, LSB (and RTTY if enabled).
