I really like my K1! Only thing that it needs is:
Illuminated display: Fairly easily done with white/yellow super bright LED addition.
160 meter band coverage: Can be done to a 2 band board with available parts.
Rumor is Elecraft may offer this as a 2 band board option.
I can't think of anything else!
Has anyone figured out an easy way to mount the Palm-Paddle on the
K1 'stand' while using the short leg set? I thought I might make a bracket
that will screw down in the existing holes somewhere.

| ... or a better receiver with sharper filtering and better IF bandpass, or a
| wider-range auto antenna tuner, or a greater than full QRP power transmitter
| with better spurious output characteristics, or a continuous (rather than
| discrete step) tuning VFO, or a lot of audio with a built-in speaker, or a
| noise blanker, or the capability to cover 80m through 15m with a two- and
| four-band board, or if you like a traditional looking box without controls
| on the top of the rig, etc., etc.
|
| Of course, the selection of an appropriate rig seldom hinges on just one
| characteristic. The KX1 has strong points in its favor too, the main one
| being the stability of the DDS, followed by it being a lot smaller and
| lighter than the K1, and its display is illuminated. The SW band coverage
| and the selectable receiver sideand modes are very nice features too.
|
| But the feature that you pointed out was the most important to me...the K1
| has 15m (or 17m) coverage.
