Try 95 and 07 for the settings on the denoiser in SSB mode. This is a
setting that gives a minimum amount of noise reduction and voice quality
"distortion". It seems to give more acceptable sound than the default
settings, and can even be left in 100% of the time during, for example,
a contest or a noisy evening without being objectionable. Try this and
see if you like it.

Start in the high 90's for the beta value and then increase it beyond 99
to 00. The marked change you will hear makes it clear what is happening.
Once you cross over into 00, the amount of noise reduction increases
dramatically, but so does the effect on bandwidth.

The same goes for the decay value, except start with a low number, say,
10, and then decrease beyond 00 to 99. This has a large effect on the
high frequency filtering on SSB signals. That's one reason why I like it
at 06 or 07.

It's very cool that we have so much control over these parameters.

Regards,

Al W6LX
