Pretty much. You need 5 to 6 kHz bandwidth for an AM signal and the K2
filter was designed for 2 kHz. John Grebenkemper's mods open that up to
closer to 2.4 kHz, but that's still less than half that needed for AM.
Indeed, that's HOW the SSB is created: after suppressing the carrier in the
balanced modulator the "other" sideband is stripped off by the filter.
