You might want to look at all the resources listed in the article on Page 79
of the June 2004 QST.  It includes a big part, Lyle Johnson, KK7P's DSP kit
that is available from TAPR.  If I'm not mistaken this kit is almost
identical to the KDSP2 and Lyle is the designer of the KDSP2.  Check out the
listings of reading materials and even software for use with DSP's to
understand them better.  I'm pretty sure you'll get a much better
perspective on the KDSP via that.  

Also remember that it's very dead out there as everyone is in Dayton (well
except me, I decided I didn't want to get rained on).
