I haven't built a KX-1, but I've built a K2 and I was IMPRESSED and GRATIFIED that there was a tuning tool supplied in the kit.

Needed or not, it's such a nice touch that says "We've thought about you.  You may not need this but we don't want you cutting up a mascara brush in the middle of the night to tune the coils".

My vote would be to add a buck to the kit and include the tool.

My guess is few will need it, but the few that do will be grateful and it will reinforce the theme that "Elecraft really wants you to be successful and pleased with the experience".

(Heathkit did it, yes?)
