[Elecraft] K2 QRO or Not?

Well, not quite a wet noodle, but in my college days back in the great
sunspot cycle of '58 (that sounds like a reference my granddad used to =
make
to the great blizzard of '98, but this is more fun)... Anyway back in =
the
vacuum tube days of the late 50's when the sun was doing its thing I =
used to
work South America while mobile in Southern California.

I was using a Lysco transmitter that put out about 5 watts, maximum, AM,
which is equivalent to about 1 watt SSB, into an 8-foot whip on my
Studebaker's rear fender. I had a regular sked with some Argentina =
stations
who were ALSO mobile at their end at the same time.=20

Not a "wet noodle" but darn close... And on both ends!=20

It is a little more challenging on the longer wavelengths, both in terms =
of
working with the higher noise level and generally lower antenna =
efficiency.=20

I've no argument with those who thrill to working only five watts or =
less
output, but more power makes a significant difference more often on the
longer wavelengths.

"Anybody with a wet noodle "

That I haven't tried?
But the tuner in my K2 is fantastic so it might work.

But to the topic.......... I would go for KPA100.
( I know I will when the bucks is saved up.)
