The best method I know of follows:

Remove the outer case, blow the dust from the inside, clean the scope face
with any non-scratch stuff that does the job, then use somethin like Formula
409, Greased Lightning or other good de-greaser on the case parts.  You can
use the same thing on the knobs and face if you work carefully not to get it
on the 'inards'.

When everything is dry put the covers back on and fire it up.
