[Elecraft] remote KAP100/KAT100

Hi

The KIO2 has several filter circuits (chokes and caps) on the I/O lines =
that will need to be duplicated if you want to use your own cable from =
the control board. You will also need to build a cable with the proper =
connector to plug into the control board. The filter circuits could be =
built on a small piece of perf board and mounted to a 9 pin D connector. =
For all of this trouble it seems to me the KIO2 kit is better as it =
comes with all the parts for the filters and cable and you get the =
RS-232 also.

You will also need an EC2 box and the KAT100-2 version that has the =
front, rear panels and connectors for the KAT100 and KPA100. You will =
also need to buy or build a ~3 ft BNC to BNC cable and a ~6 inch PL-259 =
jumper coax to connect the KPA100 to the KAT100. You will need the =
standard barrel power cable for the K2 and the 12 ga powerpole cable for =
the KPA100/KAT100. Both cables can connect to the same power supply.

  I want to remote my KPA100/KAT100 in an EC2. I don't currently have a =
KIO2.=20
  I have read that the KIO2 is not essential to remoting, but would like =
to=20
  know what advantage is gained by using the KIO2 for communications =
between=20
  the K2 and KPA/KAT versus using the AUX I/O.

  What are the pros and cons of using or not using the KIO2 to interface =
a=20
  remote KPA100/KAT100?
