[Elecraft] KX 1 VFO lock

I was reading the nice KX 1 review in the latest QST, and realized 
there was a feature on my KX 1 that I had missed-the VFO lock. 
Apparently if you hold down the RIT it will lock the vfo knob in case 
you bump it,etc. So, I was checking my manual, and it doesn't seem to 
be the same procedure. It says to hold the RIT and tap the VFO knob 
for 'LOC'. Well, on mine it will lock the knob as long as I keep 
holding down the RIT button, but reverts to normal use when I release 
it. Is this correct, and also should I be seeing a 'LOC' message on 
the display? My serial number is #289; has there already been a 
firmware upgrade I missed?
