Hi Jeff
I think you tackling your problem all wrong (editorial opinion :-)
Here I use a 60 ft nonresonant dipole on all bands, fed with 450
ohm window line. I bring it into my shack in the garage through
a weatherproof plastic electrical junction box on the wall with
a 2 inch diameter hole.
Before this, I ran 300 ohm twinlead through a hole just big enough to
pass it through.
I have worked 40m QRP WAS, and then 40m two-way QRP WAS,
using this antenna system.
The 450 ohm line feeder is really hard to beat with a non-
resonant antenna. Losses are very low, and matching is a lot easier
than some would expect. I use three homemade baluns--1:1 (50 ohms--50
ohms),
1:4 (50 ohms--200 ohms) and 4:1 (50 ohms--12.5 ohms). By switching
between them and using the KAT2 tuner, I can match on any band with
very good results.
The KRC2 band decoder could be used to switch the baluns as you jump
from one band to the next. the KAT2 memory would take care of the
match.
Good luck and 73
