The manual for my early KPA100 also shows the countersunk screws in
figure 22 going in from the inside of the rear panel, then through the
"E" plates (which are on the outside of the rear panel), then to
lockwashers and nuts.  I don't recall any difficulty here when I
assembled my KPA100.
