[Elecraft] Favorite antennas for the K1 or K2?

Jeff:
The simplest, yet most effective roof mount antenna I've ever used is a
Cushcraft R5. VSWR is acceptable, works well at all power levels up to KW,
and even competes in pile ups on 20M. The R5 covers all bands from 20 thru
10 and the R7 includes 40M. I guess they have newer versions of both out
now, and other vendors offer a similar product. The key is the electrical
half wavelength.
On 40 & 80 I use a Butternut HF-2V with well over 1000' of radial wire
buried around it, but that's a whole other story.
Your mileage may vary.
Good luck

Subject: [Elecraft] Favorite antennas for the K1 or K2?
As I continue (=stumble along) to build my K1, I am considering what kind
of antenna to get for it. I will be using it (and a K2, if and when I
build it) as a base station. My personal preference will be an antenna I
can place on my roof, and not a yagi or a quad. Key bands for me will be
20 and 40 meters.
What antennas do you like and why?
Jeff
