Thanks to all who responded to the interchangeability of KDSP2 for KAF2 =
and vice versa. What do you not like about KDSP2 was rightfully asked.
I realize the KDSP2 module came after the K2 front panel buttons were =
spoken for. A simple NR ON-OFF "button" is therefore buried in a menu =
layer. Oops, there is no menu function for NR ON, just an OFF function. =
Turn on the K2 and DSP is ON no matter that you had it OFF when you =
powered down last time. In most CW work it is indeed rare that DSP is =
needed all the time. Lord knows, those stock K2 filters are the Cat's =
Meow. Only on occasions would you need to punch the NR button to hear =
some weak signal. I'm not very keen on this automatic ON feature.
Sometimes I forget to tap Display to get into DSP menu before holding =
Band+ so I end up inadvertently changing some parameter or two. =
Sometimes when I turn the K2 on I wonder where the signals went. Then I =
remember I need to turn DSP off. I turn if off and here come the =
signals. I need learning time to get back in there and make some sense =
out of all those parameters. Which begs the question, Where is that =
"DSP for Dummies" book?
With DSP ON I hear a buzz on signals and I kinda like that. Makes =
copying a pleasure and probably would help copying in QRN.
Today I expect to receive Firmware 3.1 for KDSP2 which I hope will =
allievate the ON-OFF menu layer. After more experimenting and air time =
I'll probably grow to like it.
I wish someone would have stuck with "noise reduction." Where in the =
world did "denoiser" come from? hi
