The fact that the OTHER guy may have been using superior skills (and =

Quite true, although we often kid ourselves into thinking otherwise. =20

The possible exception is working a station with a sizeable pileup where
selection of frequency and timing of the call come into play, which =
still
requires skilled operating by the other station.
