If you suspect that you had shorted something on the computer interface
connector, the most likely damage points would be the small inductors - and
don't forget about the one in the 12 volt line on the AUX2 board (the most
likely - L2, L3 and L4 should withstand a short to ground without failure).
After checking the inductors for continuity, I would recommend first
following the voltage check table in the instruction manual for the KIO2.
If the voltages are correct, the interface should work.
There are ONLY 2 RS-232 level signals on the interface connector - pin 2
TXD, pin 3 RXD plus pin 5 (signal common) and pin 1 which is chassis ground.
The other used pins (6, 7, 8, and 9) carry internal K2 signal lines - DO NOT
connect RS-232 level signals to those pins if you value your K2!!! Bad
things will happen.
