Intermittently when coming out of Transmitt SSB and less frequently TUNE
cw, I will experience the loss of the receiver. Turn the power off and let
it sit for a few minutes and everything is ok. I have never experienced the
failure while operating (communicating) CW only when in TUNE and cw mode and
adusting my antenna coupler.
8v from regulator U4 is constant.
8R from Q2 is 2.7VDC when in failure and Q2 heats up.
Current on K2 volts/current display is .34A receiver operating, .43A when
in failure mode.
mc1350 if amp and associated component show no signs of excess current (ie
heat or smoke or crackling noises)
I am confident Q2 has become damaged and must be replaced, when 'off' the 8R
line measures .271V rather than the expected 2-3 millivolts. I have done the
obvious, looked for solder bridges etc. At the moment everything is fine,
(except needing to replace the 2n3906).
Anyone out there experience this? I hate intermittents!
