[Elecraft] K1 electrical checks

When I did the electrical checks on p. 30 of the K1 manual, my DMM read
0.00 for all tests, except at P1 pin 16, I got 0.46 V as a reading.  All
readings were conducted with my DMM set to "2" on the voltage scale of
the dial.
 
Also, the wire leading from my (Samlex 1223) power supply was speaker
wire attached to the mating plug supplied by Elecraft.  It was quite warm
to the touch after a few moments, as was the DC input jack (J4).  No
other components were warm or hot, and there was no smoke.
 
I don't want to continue installing components until I understand what is
going on here.
