[Elecraft] K2 and a noise bridge

Ron,

I regularly use a noise bridge as a tuning aid for my
antenna tuner. I built one of the TenTec noise bridges,
adjusted it to null at 50 ohms, shorted out their pulse
feature (someone there thought it was a good idea to pulse
the noise with a 555 timer) put it in a box with suitable
switches and use it to adjust my manual tuner without
transmitting. A very small fuse protects the device when I
forget to switch it out of the circuit and try to trasmit
through it. Palomar makes a commercial version. Anyway, it
works quite well, producing very sharp nulls. I suggest
using a 50 ohm resistor for reference, set resistance scale
to 50, reactance to 0, and make very small changes about
these values until you see the null.
