I am sorry Gene, but I will have to disagree with you.
All I have done is followed the procedure on page 98 of the K2 manual,"Using
a Calibrated Signal Source". The difference is I used Spectrogram to find
the "true" zero beat on WWV rather than my low frequency audio perception.

I then adjusted C22 to compensate for the error as described in the
procedure.

At this time I ran CAL PLL and achieved linearization of the VCO.

I then re-checked and found it unnecessary to do any further adjustment.

I then went through all 4 filters using CAL FIL, moved the filter setting
off 1 count and returned as described, forcing the K2 to remeasure the BFO
frequency.

That is the procedure in the K2 manual for using a "calibrated signal
source". For me it worked great. I would rather have taken it in to the
calibration laboratory where I worked many years ago and used the standard
directly traceable to the National Bureau of Standards, one HP Cesium Beam
Standard, but just don't have access to that stuff any more.
